The practice

A practice dedicated to financial crime

Money laundering, fraud and financial cybercrime cases combine criminal law, banking rules and the realities of how money actually moves. They call for precision, discretion and a clear understanding of the economic context.

Me Pen Sophea focuses his practice on this field: he defends people under investigation, represents victims, and advises businesses on their anti-money-laundering obligations.

CAFIU

Working with the Cambodia Financial Intelligence Unit

The Cambodia Financial Intelligence Unit (CAFIU) receives and analyses suspicious transaction reports from banks and other reporting entities under the Law on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (2020).

Me Pen Sophea works regularly with CAFIU on matters involving suspicious transaction reports, asset freezes and AML/CFT compliance. He helps clients understand what is being asked of them, prepare complete and accurate responses, and protect their rights throughout the process.

Me Pen Sophea is an independent lawyer. He is not an official, agent or representative of the Cambodia Financial Intelligence Unit (CAFIU), the National Bank of Cambodia or any other public authority, and he cannot obtain decisions from them on anyone's behalf.
